Channapatna Toys: The Hub & Spokes Model of ArtisanPride
Reviving Heritage Through Innovation and Inclusion
ArtisanPride has developed a distinctive Hub & Spokes model to empower artisan communities in Karnataka, India — especially the makers of the iconic Channapatna toys.
At the heart of the Channapatna toys model lies the HUB: a state-of-the-art Common Facility Centre. It serves as a space for innovation, training, technology enhancement, and a design studio. It acts as the nerve center for ideation, skill-building, and modernizing traditional crafts.
Surrounding the Channapatna toys are the SPOKES: a network of small, distributed manufacturing units. These units are located within artisan communities where the magic truly happens. They enable skilled ArtisanPride member artisans to produce handcrafted Channapatna toys and other craft products.
This model blends heritage craftsmanship with modern support systems, creating a powerful ecosystem where tradition thrives alongside technology.
